TK-FA20-300 AC/DC Module Power Supply
Power at a pond is awkward in two ways: the voltage varies (single-phase 220 V or three-phase 380 V, and rural feeders sag), and the environment is hostile. With 90–528 VAC input and AC or DC operation, the TK-FA20-300 covers the grid types of several markets — nobody has to check the supply before ordering.
Four outputs, three packages
| 5 V | TK-FA20-300S05H2D4 · 4000 mA · ripple ≤90 mVp-p · 78% efficient |
|---|---|
| 12 V | TK-FA20-300S12H2D4 · 1660 mA · ripple ≤120 mVp-p · 83% efficient |
| 15 V | TK-FA20-300S15H2D4 · 1333 mA · ripple ≤120 mVp-p · 83% efficient |
| 24 V | TK-FA20-300S24H2D4 · 833 mA · ripple ≤150 mVp-p · 84% efficient |
| H2 PCB-mount | 70 × 48 × 24 mm, 130 g, soldered to a board |
| H2-T terminal | 96 × 53.8 × 32.5 mm, 170 g, wire to terminals, screw-fixed |
| H2-TS DIN-rail | 96 × 53.8 × 37.0 mm, 215 g, clips to a 35 mm rail |
Model form: TK-FA20-300S + output voltage + H2D4 + package suffix. The 12 V DIN-rail version is TK-FA20-300S12H2D4-TS; no suffix means the H2 PCB-mount package.
What the wide input range buys you
Single-phase 220 V, 380 V phase-to-phase and DC 100–745 VDC all connect, so one model covers the grids of several markets. Rural feeders sag for much of the year, so the 90–110 VAC band runs on the derating curve; the 480–528 VAC band needs derating too. Note that CE certification covers 100–400 VAC: outside that range the unit still works but is not covered by the certificate.
Where it goes, and what it can carry
| Kantangren equipment | Requirement | Fits this module? |
|---|---|---|
| Data terminal TK-DT430 | DC 6–36 V, 300 mA max | Yes, ample headroom |
| Water-quality probes DO / PH / ORP | DC 12 V, about 20 mA each | Yes |
| 12-channel board TK-R12 | DC 12 V, keep ≥1 A in reserve | Yes; add a second unit for several boards |
| 4G gateway TK-4G-GW | DC 12 V, ≥2 A (24 W) recommended | No — 20 W will not carry the gateway; use 30 W or larger |
Gateway peak current rises with 4G transmission. Feeding it from a 20 W module shows up as a rail sag and a module restart at each transmission, which the site sees as a gateway that keeps dropping off. This is written down here so it does not happen in the field.
Protections and safety
- Three protections: short circuit (hiccup, self-recovering), overcurrent from 130 % to 240 % Io, and overvoltage capped per output (7.5 V on 5 V, 20 V on 12 V and 15 V, 30 V on 24 V);
- 4000 VAC isolation for 1 minute, insulation resistance ≥100 MΩ, so the control side is not exposed to a primary fault;
- CLASS I: FG must be reliably earthed, never left floating;
- EMC: conducted and radiated disturbance to CISPR32 / EN55032 CLASS B, immunity to the IEC/EN61000-4 series;
- MTBF ≥300,000 hours (MIL-HDBK-217F at 25 °C).
FAQ
- Can it run straight off 380 V three-phase?
- Yes — connect two lives, which gives 380 V phase-to-phase, inside the 90–528 VAC range. Do not connect all three; the input is single-phase. Note that AC(N) then carries the second live rather than a neutral, so label the terminal clearly.
- Will the 12 V model run the 4G gateway?
- No. The gateway wants ≥2 A (24 W) and the 12 V model supplies 1660 mA. Use a 30 W unit or larger for the gateway.
- What does it draw with no load?
- 0.5 W or less. Powered continuously for 365 days, that is under 4.4 kWh of standby consumption.
- Can the output be trimmed, or two units paralleled?
- The output is fixed at the factory with no potentiometer and no field adjustment. Two units cannot be paralleled either — there is no current sharing, so they pull against each other.
- Is it hot-swappable? Is there a remote on/off input?
- No to both. Pulling it live arcs at the input, and there is no remote enable; for remote switching put a contactor or relay on the input side.
- Does the DIN-rail version include the rail clip?
- The -TS package clips to a standard 35 mm rail. Whether the clip ships with the unit, and the rail itself, should be confirmed on the order; the rail is normally supplied with the cabinet.
