TK-R12-SC4S-BG 12-Channel Controller
This board is the high-current execution end of the Kantangren TAYKEE control layer. It is also a local controller that can stand duty on its own: four three-phase groups, 12 outputs, U/V/W in each group switching together, so one board carries four three-phase aerators. Three RS485 ports take DO and water-quality probes directly, so it runs without a gateway and keeps running when 4G drops.
The real problem on a large farm: inrush
Four 3 kW three-phase motors closing together stack their inrush. At best the voltage sags and the gateway reboots; at worst the branch trips. The board brings its groups in one at a time, at a settable interval (3–6 s is the factory recommendation), so the inrush is spread out, the voltage holds and the gateway is not affected.
Whether the motor is actually turning: 12 CTs
A closed contactor does not mean a running motor. With a lost phase or a jammed impeller the circuit is still live while the motor runs single-phase, and it can burn out in a quarter of an hour. Every group carries one current transformer on each of U, V and W — 12 in total — and the three currents are compared: if one phase falls close to zero while the other two rise, the group trips as a phase loss and reports it. This protects the motor, not just the contactor.
Specifications
| Outputs | 4 groups × U/V/W = 12 channels, three poles switched together by one lever |
|---|---|
| Load per channel | up to 3 kW, covering 0.75–3 kW three-phase aerators; larger loads via an external contactor |
| Contact rating | 50 A maximum, electrical life 20,000 operations |
| Supply | Three-phase 380 V, three wires, no neutral |
| Single-phase wiring | One aerator per pole, 12 per board; neutral taken from the distribution board, never through this board |
| Current monitoring | 12 CTs for per-phase loss, open phase and three-phase imbalance |
| Comms | 3 × RS485, 9600/8/N/1, default address 40; cascade with the gateway, add boards to add channels |
| Power | DC 12 V with at least 1 A in reserve, not shared with inductive loads |
| Emergency | Manual lever on each relay forces the circuit closed if the control electronics fail |
| Mounting | Inside an IP55 or better cabinet with 50 mm clear above and below; the board itself is not waterproof |
| Warranty | 1 year from the date of manufacture |
Sizing: four aerators per board on three-phase, twelve on single-phase
| Site | How to size |
|---|---|
| Three-phase 380 V aerators | Divide the count by four and round up: up to 4 on one board, 5–8 on two |
| All 220 V single-phase | One board carries 12 (one per pole); the three in a group start and stop together |
| Automatic control wanted | Add a TK-4G-GW gateway and TK-DO100 probe; this board executes |
| Feeders | FS2000 and 150D have their own controls and do not use these channels |
Never mix three-phase and single-phase loads inside one group — the three poles share a single switch. With all-single-phase wiring the three units in a group start together, so match them for power and duty; that also keeps the three-phase current comparison and imbalance criterion meaningful.
FAQ
- Can it drive single-phase 220 V aerators?
- Yes. Where every aerator is 220 V single-phase, one board carries 12: each of the three poles in a group feeds one unit. The neutral is taken from the distribution board and never lands on this board. The three units in a group start and stop together, so match them for power.
- We have 380 V but no neutral — does that work?
- Yes. The board takes no neutral, which suits older installations that only bring in three lives. On three-phase, one group carries one aerator, four aerators per board.
- Will the board still act if the gateway goes offline?
- Yes. Its three RS485 ports take DO and water-quality probes directly and it starts or stops on local settings without a gateway or 4G. Data is back-reported when the link returns.
- How much can the relays switch directly?
- Contacts are rated 50 A. Load capability is quoted as 3.5 kW direct; do not work back from 50 A to a power figure. Larger motors should go through an external contactor.
- Can it tell that a motor is not turning?
- Yes. One CT per phase on every group, 12 in total, compared phase to phase: if one falls close to zero while the other two rise, the group trips as a phase loss and reports it, before the motor burns.
- What if the control electronics fail?
- Put an insulated tool on the manual lever for that group and close it; the aerator gets power. The last line of defence stays with the operator.
