DC48V System-Level Power & Modular Energy Storage
This is what separates TAYKEE from "a DO meter plus a timer". The nightmare in pond farming isn't a missing reading — it's detecting low oxygen while the aerator can't run because the grid is down. The DC48V architecture plus modular storage exists for the second the mains fails on a storm night: aerators keep spinning, the pre-dawn oxygen line holds. This “storage + generator” no-blackout kit is the SAFEBACK® micro-grid kit (a TAYKEE sub-brand), managed by the SAFEBACK EMS energy dispatch system.
Why power is the lifeline of aquaculture IoT
- Outage = oxygen countdown: summer storms, tripped lines, burned transformers — once aerators stop, DO collapses around 3–5 a.m. and a whole pond can be lost within hours;
- Ordinary UPS can't take motor loads: aerator inrush is brutal; slow transfer or overload defeat most backup products;
- Wet ponds, shock risk: AC mains distribution with aged cables and water ingress is dangerous at farm sites.
The architecture
TAYKEE treats power as a coordinated chain — mains → storage → DC bus → controllers → aerators:
- DC48V SELV microgrid: safety extra-low voltage by design, cutting shock risk at the pond;
- Modular storage: rack or outdoor-cabinet forms, stacked to capacity;
- PCS with <100 ms off-grid switchover: aerators ride the transfer on inertia — no stop-restart oxygen gap;
- BMS + EMS: battery management and energy strategy over 4G — off-peak charging, peak discharging, fleet view on the EMS dashboard;
- Four-stage surge protection + two-stage RCD: SPD cascade, equipotential grounding, trip alarms — a complete pond-side electrical system.

Does it reduce the electricity bill?
With storage in the loop the system charges on off-peak tariffs and discharges to aerators at peak, on top of DO-based variable-speed aeration that stops wasteful full-throttle running. Actual savings and payback depend on local tariff spreads, stocking density and operating strategy — we model both at survey time.
FAQ
- Can it serve ponds without grid power?
- The DC48V bus accepts PV and generator hybrids under EMS dispatch. Fully off-grid sites need a dedicated survey sizing solar, storage and load — outside the standard packages.
- How much capacity do I need?
- It comes down to how many aerators must keep running, for how long, during the outage window. Standard designs prioritize monitoring plus critical aeration circuits; larger farms stack modules. On-site load measurement decides.
- Is battery storage safe?
- LFP chemistry with BMS management, IP55 outdoor cabinet, >6000 cycles; the 48 V SELV bus reduces shock and thermal-runaway exposure. Installation follows the acceptance specification.
