Technical Capabilities
This page explains "why it is reliable, how big it can drive, what happens offline, and whether upgrades are safe". Everything comes from frontline design and test specs and is the "capability evidence" a buyer can verify during technical due diligence.
This page discloses the system architecture, communication & fallback mechanisms, power-adaptation range, VFD closed-loop logic, power-loss recovery, OTA upgrade mechanism, firmware management and packaging/shipping standards (engineering methods and quantified metrics). Data such as specific component models, material prices, internal BOM and cost are not public.
1. System Architecture Overview
- Core hardware: 4G smart controller + fluorescence DO sensor + control cabinet (with SPD / RCD / contactor / VFD bay) + DC48V system-level power and modular storage.
- Core software: edge control logic + cloud platform + farmer / ops dual-end APP.
- Config: one controller manages up to 4 aerator circuits and up to 2 DO sensors; multi-pond centrally managed on the cloud.
- Communication: 4G to cloud (MQTT), local RS485 to sensors & VFD, local closed-loop independent of cloud.
2. 4G Remote Control & Offline Local Fallback
| Capability | Note |
|---|---|
| Real-time cloud | DO, water temp, relay status, 4G signal reported periodically; remote view of live data and recent trends |
| Offline local loop | Controller still auto starts/stops aerators by DO threshold offline, independent of cloud |
| Data cache & back-fill | Pre-cache before drop, prioritizing start/stop and alarms; auto back-fill after reconnect |
| Weak-signal accelerated cache | Below threshold raises cache priority to avoid losing critical data |
| IoT-dedicated SIM | Direct-traffic IoT SIM, low cost, stable online, avoids ordinary-card credit outage |
| Deployment notes | Antenna outside cabinet, away from metal and raised; waterproof antenna joint; outdoor cabinet adds surge protector |
3. High-power Aerator Support (0.75–7.5kW)
One of the engineering boundaries customers care about most:
| Aerator power | Power suggestion | Adaptation note |
|---|---|---|
| 0.75–3.0kW | 220V single / 380V three-phase | Covered by standard plan, contactor & cable per spec |
| 3.5kW | Prefer 380V three-phase | Only ~7A current, small change; 220V single needs upgraded cable |
| 7.5kW | Must be 380V three-phase | Upgrade contactor, RCD, cable, VFD and start method; survey grid capacity before work |
Key Design Principles
- Controller decoupled from motor power: the 4G controller only outputs a 12V signal to drive the contactor coil (~hundreds of mA), regardless of motor power — so aerator power does not affect the controller; MCU / firmware / RS485 / communication are all unaffected.
- Start method: high power (especially 7.5kW) strongly recommends star-delta or VFD start; direct start inrush can reach 5–7× rated, hard for rural grids and causes trips.
- Grid-capacity red line: survey transformer capacity and start voltage-drop before work; multiple high-power units starting together must be staggered (seconds apart) to keep total inrush safe. The most overlooked yet most fatal on-site constraint.
- Cabinet & cooling: high power + VFD raise in-cabinet heat significantly; need a larger cabinet, forced air cooling and dust filter.
4. VFD Closed-loop Speed Control (DO → Frequency)
The controller talks to the AC VFD via RS485 Modbus RTU and auto-adjusts aerator speed by DO data for "oxygen on demand".
| DO range | VFD action | Aerator state |
|---|---|---|
| DO ≥ upper | Stop or minimum-frequency standby | Oxygen sufficient, saving |
| lower < DO < upper | Mid frequency (~25–35Hz) | Maintain DO |
| danger < DO ≤ lower | Full frequency (50Hz) | Rapid oxygen boost |
| DO ≤ danger | Full frequency + alarm push | Emergency aeration |
Value & Protection
- Saving: another 20–40% over direct on/off (by species/duty); also eliminates inrush, reduces grid shock and water hammer.
- Universal compatibility: supports mainstream AC VFDs (domestic / Taiwan / international brands, IP20 in-cabinet or IP54/IP65 outdoor) via standard Modbus, compatible with V/F, SVC, etc.
- Protection params: over-current, overload, over/under-voltage, over-temp, motor over-temp, comm-loss (free stop) and more; shielded cable on output side, control & power lines ≥30cm apart to suppress EMI.
- Hybrid mode: some circuits on VFD, some on contactor (direct) — combine by cost-performance: common circuits VFD, auxiliary full-speed on demand.
5. Reliable Power-loss Recovery
6. OTA Remote Upgrade (Safety First)
| Mechanism | Note |
|---|---|
| Dual-partition A/B | New firmware to standby partition, current run unaffected; self-check 30s after boot, auto-rollback on fail |
| Differential upgrade | Only diff package sent, far smaller than full, saves 4G data |
| Grey release | Internal test → 5% → 20% → 100% batched, observing each batch |
| Auto rollback | Abnormal boot triggers auto-rollback; severe issues can be paused + rolled back remotely with one click |
| Resume from breakpoint | Download interruption resumes from breakpoint; timeout guard prevents hang |
| Upgrade lock | Relay operation blocked during upgrade to prevent danger; pre-checks power/signal/status |
| Upgrade window | Default daytime window, avoiding night low-DO high-risk hours |
7. Firmware Versions & Lifetime Free Upgrade
- Semantic versioning: major.minor.patch clearly separates breaking change / feature / fix.
- Auto-config migration: params auto-migrated on upgrade, no re-config; destructive format changes have built-in migration.
- Lifetime free OTA: software upgrades are free; older versions at end-of-maintenance are pushed to latest via OTA.
- Compatibility management: each hardware version's supported firmware range is clear, with compatibility notes for cross-version upgrades.
8. Packaging, Shipping & Receiving
| Step | Standard |
|---|---|
| Pack protection | Moisture/dust/static proof; inner anti-static bag + EPE pearl cotton, box-in-box layered |
| Shipping | Rain/sun proof, handle with care, stack height limit; remote villages/mountains prefer reachable logistics |
| Storage | Temp/humidity controlled, off-ground moisture proof, ventilated fire-safe; FIFO, re-inspect if overdue |
| Receiving | Acceptance guide included: reject if outer box deformed / wet; on open check parts & appearance, sensor cap intact; power-on LED test; report shipping issues within 48h of signing |
9. FAQ
Can aerators still auto-run if the network drops?
Yes. The controller runs closed-loop logic locally and still auto starts/stops by DO threshold without the cloud; after recovery it back-fills cached data and syncs status.
How powerful an aerator can it drive?
Covers 0.75–7.5kW. The 4G controller only outputs a 12V signal to drive the contactor coil, not motor current, so power doesn't affect the controller; high power needs upgraded contactor/cable/RCD/VFD and start method, plus a grid survey before work.
How much can VFD speed control save?
Another 20–40% over direct on/off; high DO = high frequency, normal = down-shift; also eliminates inrush, grid shock and water hammer. Depends on species and duty.
Can a firmware upgrade break the device?
Dual-partition A/B + auto-rollback + differential + resume + upgrade lock; grey release, severe issues pausable and rollback remotely with one click, safety first.
Can it work with poor 4G in remote ponds?
Yes. Antenna outside cabinet, raised, away from metal; weak-signal accelerated cache; replace with high-gain or remote-lead if needed. IoT-dedicated SIM ensures stable online.
